Social Media Self Belief

When we look around for advice and support in the business world, we take a look at public motivational speakers. This blog post is about blogging. As per usual, I will be taking a strange route through my thoughts.

Every now and then, especially around the end of the tax year, there is a massive push of motivational speakers and coaches. Its just part of the way the markets move. It does almost seem too logical. My brother is a big lover of quotes and stuff like this. Im not sure if thats him or a phase. It’s been going on a while. It can be tough to be any kind of self-employed and have a drive and push to succeed. In the modern world, It just seems natural to toughen up and head for your dreams.

But wait, dreams…
These are things that are not tangible. So how to we achieve if they are not dreams. We simply break steps down. These steps should lead to a goal. Obvious right ?

So if its so obvious, why do we all not do social media. Why do we all have private accounts and others have accounts that are rarely updated. Some people don’t even have facebook. This is not a crime, i promise you it’s normal.

If you were to go and see a motivational person they would eventually get down to YOU can change. It always has to do with you. Its an action that is needed. Often, when talking about social media, people get carried away with the detail on what to do and how to do it. If at the time you don’t feel like doing a hashtag, thats fine. Social media has to have the context of you, a human being. The language and engagement is crucial. For those data analytics, im sorry, the numbers are really really not important. They may get you to where you need/want to be however YOU still need to begin the process of typing up and engaging.

On a personal reflection, I have failed to often blog or keep up to date on doing certain bits of social media. This is really because I’ve spent a long time trying to be happy with myself. Having a profile that is you, its hard work. It can be hard to be both a brand/service and human. I think that the cycle just needs to be broken. The world of business is changing. The framework of professionalism allows for more personality and character more than it use to. There really is no excuse to not take part because everyones voice is important.

The moral here is to make sure you don’t get hung up on the tech or anything about you. Just get to it, call to action, do it ! You never know, you may enjoy yourself. Social media is about being social, sharing and giving back. After a while when you ask, you may also get back something with added extra.
